B.TECH MARINE ENGINEERING
This 4 year degree course duly approved by Director general of Shipping, Govt. of India or approved by AICTE. The Academy impart comprehensive training in Marine Engineering and shipboard practice. It comprises of academics and ship familiarization along with marine Workshop training (as per IMO modules) done at Academy. After completion of the Course at the Academy the candidate undergoes the four basis STCW courses. The candidate is exempted from class IV part A COC & obtains it on the basis of passing off the academic training/Degree.
After this he goes for his Class IV Part B' written & oral examination.
After this he goes for his Class IV Part B' written & oral examination.
10th,12th pass (Art/ Commerce/ Science) from recognized board. English should have been one of the subjects.
Age:17.5 to 28 years.
Medically fit (+ or – 2.5 eye vision is acceptable) without colour blindness.
NMS undertakes an Aptitude tests followed by CET of IMU. The final selection will only take place after medical check-up through our panel Doctor, approved by D. G. Shipping Govt. of India.
After training join as B.TECH MARINE ENGINEERING / Trainee Cadet. [Salary: 250$ - 500$]
12 months sea experience, Promoted as AB or BOSUN. [Salary: 800$ - 1200$]
18 month sea experience, Promoted as Deck Officer / 3rd Officer [Salary: 1500$ - 2500$].

After 36 months sea experience & passing 2nd mate exam, 2nd Officer [Salary: 2500$ - 3000$].
Further sea experience & passing exam, Chief Officer [Salary: 3000$ - 5000$].
